Cookie Policy

Last updated: August 16, 2026

This Cookie Policy explains how R's PlacePrep ("PlacePrep", "we", "us", or "our") uses cookies and similar technologies on our website at placeprep.app. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy.

PlacePrep is a free, independent project and is not currently registered as a company. As the Platform grows, the technologies we use may change, and we will update this page accordingly.

What are cookies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They help sites work, remember your session, and understand how the site is used. We also use similar technologies such as local storage.

Cookies we use

Essential cookies

These are required for the Platform to function and cannot be turned off.

  • Session cookie (__session) — keeps you signed in. It is an httpOnly, secure cookie and holds your authentication session. Without it, you cannot log in or use protected features.

Analytics cookies and technologies

These help us understand how the Platform is used so we can improve it. They are optional and load only after you choose "Accept" in our cookie banner. If you choose "Only essential", they are never loaded.

  • PostHog — product analytics. It is configured to respect "Do Not Track", does not record sessions, and strips sensitive information (such as email, tokens, passwords, and registration numbers) before sending events.

You can change your choice at any time using the Cookie Preferences link in the site footer.

Cookieless analytics

  • Vercel Analytics — privacy-friendly page-view analytics. It sets no cookies and does not track you across sites. Visitors are counted using a temporary hash that is discarded after 24 hours, so it cannot identify you or rebuild your browsing history. Because it stores nothing on your device, it runs without a consent prompt.

Error monitoring

  • Sentry — used for diagnosing errors. This runs regardless of your analytics choice, because we need it to detect and fix faults that would otherwise break the Platform for you. It is limited to diagnostic data: text is masked, media is blocked, and sensitive headers and fields (such as cookies, tokens, and passwords) are stripped before anything is sent.

Local storage

We use your browser's local storage to save certain preferences and configuration (for example, AI evaluation settings for admins). This data stays on your device.

What we do not track

We do not use analytics to track your exam answers, question content, passwords, tokens, Aadhaar number, contact numbers, or full registration numbers.

Managing cookies

When you first visit, we ask whether to enable optional analytics. Your choice is stored locally on your device, and you can change it at any time through the Cookie Preferences link in the footer.

You can also control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Note that disabling essential cookies will prevent you from logging in and using core features. If you enable "Do Not Track" in your browser, we treat that as a decline: analytics never load and we do not show you the banner.

Changes to this policy

As the Platform evolves or changes service providers, this Cookie Policy may be updated. Changes will be posted here with a new date.
